Tutorial: Resizing

Step Two

The Image Size window starts off by showing the current size of the image. In this case we have a pixel count of 3888 wide x 2592 depth, which equates to 32.9cm x 21.95cm in size at 300 pixels/inch

The "Scale Styles" being ticked means that Photoshop will also rescale any styles, for example layer styles where I may have added a drop shadow to a layer, to keep them in proportion to the new image size.

"Constrain Proportions" being ticked ensures that if I change one setting, for example the width, then the height setting will automatically change to keep the image to the same proportions as the original.

"Resample Image" refers to the method which Photoshop utilises to make the changes. Bicubic works well.
