Step Two:
As you can see we have pulled the shadows over towards the middle a little, darkening the shadow areas, and also pulled in the highlights a little lightening them. This has the effect of adding contrast to the image, but with more control then when using the "Brightness/Contrast" tool.
There are no hard and fast right or wrong settings, with each photo requiring different amounts, and each photographer having different ideas of what looks good or bad. Here the effect has been quite subtle, and we have to be careful with the highlight slider not to blow out the highlights too much, for example just above the seals right flipper where the highlight is brightest. |
