Tutorial: Layers 2

This time just selecting an area of an image using the Lasso Tool or Quick Mask Mode. We prefer to use layers to work an individual area of an image as it gives you more control then working on a single layer image. It also gives you the option to start again very easily if it all goes wrong.

Here we have an image where the highlights are just a little bit too light, and visual detail has been lost.

We have used the Lasso Tool to draw around the face to select it with a feather value of 30 pixels. Having drawn around the area we right click the mouse on the image and select "Layer via Copy"
